According to official statistics provided by the Department of Geology and Mines, the mining activities in Cambodia during the past 2 years involved the production of sand and gravel and crushed stone for construction material (table 1). Other minerals, such as clay, gemstones, gold, iron ore, limestone, and salt, presumably were produced in the central Province of Kampong Cham, the northcentral Province of Preah Vihear, the northeastern Provinces of Mondul Kiri and Rotanak Kiri, and the coastal Province of Kampot.
