Positional Accuracy | Sanitation data was collected from WaterSHED small business partners and does not take into account data from other water and sanitation businesses in the area. Thus, data collected may underestimate sanitation coverage in collected areas. |
Logical Consistency | All information was collected and compiled by WaterSHED Cambodia. The raw data has four communes that do not match with ODC's commune database (from Economic Census 2011). These communes are Reaksmei Songha, Khlaeng Meas, Boeung Pram and Bour. Therefore, ODC's map and data team only visualizes latrine and water filter maps with matched communes only. |
Completeness | Household data was collected in 2013 and 2014 from eight provinces in Cambodia where WaterSHED implements its sanitation marketing program. The data was collected by local government officials. This data reflects an accurate snapshot of latrine and water filter coverage at the time of data collection. Since then, the sanitation data has been updated to June 2016 using latrine sales data from small businesses supported by WaterSHED. However, WaterSHED does not collaborate with all latrines producers in the region, so the data may underestimate actual sanitation coverage. |
Process Step | Data was collected by local government in collaboration with WaterSHED. WaterSHED provided data collection training to commune and village level officials. Data was collected and processed at the village level with oversight from commune officials. Then, WaterSHED entered, reviewed, and analyzed completed surveys to ensure accuracy. Since the end of data collection in 2014, the sanitation data has been updated using weekly sales records from local businesses. ODC got the raw data on water and sanitation coverage from WaterSHED Cambodia in .ods format and then converted it into .csv format and cleaned to match ODC's spatial data of Economic Census 2011. The new re-structured database was then joined with the economic census 2011 (shapefile) to visualize percentage maps of latrine and water filter uses by commune level. |
