Combating Illegal Logging: Lessons from the EU FLEGT Action Plan

This brochure provides an overview of the EU FLEGT Action Plan which was launched in 2003 to propose measures to fight against illegal logging and associated trade. It outlines the origins of the Action Plan, the concerns which led to its introduction, and the progress that has been made. It analyses the implications it had on the overall governance in producing countries and identifies the changes that have occurred during the last ten years. It also analyses the global trends that have implications for forests and related land use and for the Action Plan and draws lessons from experience to date and suggests some ways forward.
