Decision No. 1670/QD-TTg: Approve the Target Program to Respond to the Climate Change and Green Growth for the period of 2016 - 2020

Decision No. 1670/QD-TTg issued by the Prime Minister to approve the Target Program to respond to climate change and green growth in the period 2016 - 2020. General objectives of the program: - To promote the capacity of the whole country, to work concurrently on adaptation measures to the impacts of climate change and to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, ensuring the safety of people's life and property. To strengthen the adaptation capacity to climate change of people and natural systems; green growth, towards a low carbon economy, natural capital enrichment becoming the mainstream in sustainable economic development. – To restructure and perfect the economic institutions in the direction of greening existing sectors and encourage the development of economic sectors using effective energy and resources with high value added. - To implement the National Strategy on Climate Change, the National Strategy on Green Growth, actively implementing the commitments of Vietnam and the international community to protect the Earth’s climate. To create momentum for continuing to attract investment support from the international community. – To reduce greenhouse gas emissions towards implementation of commitments to reduce greenhouse gas emissions after 2020 (COP21 and Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) implementation).
