An examination of policies promoting large-scale investments in farmland in Cambodia

The article aims to capture the status quo, more than ten years after the adoption of a new Land Law and almost seven years after the promulgation of the relevant Sub-Decree on Economic Land Concessions. As results, economic land concession (ELC) policy and implementation are still critical and neglectful of government authorities. It doesn't reflect the primary purpose of the government on poverty reduction in rural areas. This study is considered as lessons learn of large agricultural investment to formulate new policy responses that adequately address the risks in association with large investment in farmland.
