Assessment of RBO-level mechanisms for sustainable hydropower development and management

This report documents lessons learnt on transboundary cooperation mechanisms that can support the sustainable development and management of hydropower projects. The lessons are drawn by comparing mechanisms and tools applied in five case studies: the Manantali Dam (Senegal, Mali, and Mauritania), the Itaipu Dam (Paraguay/Brazil), the Columbia River Project (USA/Canada), the Kariba Dam (Zambia/Zimbabwe), and the Kosi Dam (Nepal/India).
