The framework aims to contribute to the development of extractive industries within ASEAN that are accountable, transparent, and well-governed and are effective in stimulating economic growth at regional, national and local levels, environmentally sound, socially responsible and involve the participation of surrounding communities. The framework consists of four cornerstones: (i) protection of the environment; (ii) protection and respect for human rights; (iii) transparent and accountable practices; and (iv) sound fiscal frameworks and revenue management.
