Through children's eyes: how digital technologies enable child sexual abuse

This report examines technology-facilitated child sexual exploitation and abuse and the ways in which digital tools and platforms can be used to expose children to sexual content, solicit or groom them, coerce or threaten them, extort sexual content, or create and share sexual content involving children. The report also highlights how technology can amplify and facilitate the sexual abuse and exploitation of children in both online and offline settings.

The report draws on survey data from approximately 21,000 internet-using children aged 12–17 across 21 countries, as well as in-depth interviews with 100 young people who experienced abuse during childhood. The study examines the scale and impacts of technology-facilitated sexual abuse, including the challenges children face in seeking help and reporting abuse. The research also includes data from Cambodia and forms part of the Disrupting Harm project, jointly implemented by UNICEF, ECPAT International, and INTERPOL.
