"Development" in the Mekong region (dam projects and EIAs)

This article discusses the methods and impacts of development in the Mekong River Basin. The articles notes the "Mekong rapids blasting project” (the Navigation Channel Improvement Project on the Upper Mekong River) and its environmental assessment process. The author describes the use of EIAs as project justification in several dam projects, and argues that development should be people-centered.
