From Landlocked to Land-linked: Unlocking the potential of Lao-China railway connectivity

This analytical report is produced by world bank which compiles 5 chapters starting from the broader economic context of the railway sector and evaluating the complementary reforms and investments required to fully leverage the Lao-China Railway. This is followed by an overview of three areas critical to the success of the railway corridor: (i) complementary transport infrastructure, (ii) an efficient logistics industry, and (iii) trade facilitation. The report’s findings are based on quantitative analyses and extensive consultations with public and private stakeholders in Lao PDR, China, and Thailand; key recommendations and best practices are also introduced.
