The ‘Mekong Water Resources Assistance Strategy’: Justifying large water infrastructure with transboundary impacts

This conference paper critiques the World Bank and Asian Development Bank’s Mekong Water Resources Assistance Strategy, which promotes the construction of large-scale water infrastructure projects. The author analyses this strategy and notes a number of risks. The conference paper was prepared for ‘Critical Transitions in the Mekong Region,’ organized by Regional Center for Sustainable Development in Chiang Mai on 29-31 January 2007.
